Ready-mixed concrete production is carried out with a computer-controlled automation system based on automatic dosing. Concrete mix formulas prepared according to different requirements are loaded into the system. When the production command is given, the materials required by the formula (cement, aggregate, admixture, water, etc.) are automatically weighed and mixed in appropriate amounts.
Production Process
- Aggregate Preparation: The aggregate is blended on the aggregate belt and then transferred to the mixer.
- Cement Preparation: Cement is stored in the cement silo and transferred from there to the cement scale.
- Admixture Preparation: The admixture is mixed in a small bunker and discharged into the water bunker, where it is blended with water before being transferred to the mixer.
- Mixing: Once all components are collected in the mixer, the mixing begins. When the mixture is ready, the concrete is discharged to the mixer truck.
Control and Monitoring
Plant Operator: The plant operator is responsible for the automation system. The operator manages the production process via the computer control system.
Production Document (Delivery Note): At the end of the automatic production process, the printout from the computer is not only an accounting document but also a technical document showing the contents of the ordered concrete and whether it complies with the order specifications.
Scope of Automation
Automation is not limited to automatic dosing alone. Other areas of automation in the concrete plant include:
- Process Monitoring: All stages of the production process are monitored.
- Production Reporting: Production data is recorded and reported.
- Alarm Monitoring: Possible malfunctions and errors are monitored and reported.
- Order Management: Orders are received, planned, and managed.
- Production Planning: Production processes are planned and optimized.
- Stock Control: Material stocks are monitored and managed.
- Truck Weighbridge: The weight of trucks is measured and recorded.
- Transit Mixer Monitoring: Concrete transport mixers are monitored.
- Quality Control Laboratory Reporting: Quality control reports of the produced concrete are generated.
